MCS Certified
The UK's quality mark for solar PV and battery storage installation
MCS is the UK's standards and certification scheme for low-carbon technology, solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps and more. Being MCS certified means Eco2u NW has been independently assessed, and is re-assessed every year, against the scheme's installation standards. Our certification is issued and audited through NAPIT, which is why our MCS number carries the NAP prefix.
Why this matters
- An MCS certificate for your installation is required to claim Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) payments for the electricity you export
- Installations must meet the MCS installation standards and the relevant building regulations
- Certified installers must belong to a Trading Standards-approved consumer code, ours is HIES
- Annual surveillance assessments check that standards are being kept, not just met once
- Every completed installation is registered on the MCS database and you receive the certificate
What this means for you
Your system is designed and installed to a nationally recognised standard, you receive an MCS certificate once it's commissioned, and you're eligible to be paid for the power you export. We register the installation for you, it's included in your price.
NAPIT

NAPIT Approved
Government-authorised competent person scheme for electrical work
NAPIT is one of the UK's largest government-authorised bodies for electrical contractors and runs a Competent Person Scheme under the Building Regulations. As a NAPIT approved installer, Eco2u NW can self-certify that its electrical work complies with Part P and notify it to your local authority on your behalf. NAPIT is also the body that assesses and issues our MCS certification.
Why this matters
- Electrical work is completed and certified by assessed, competent electricians
- We self-certify and notify the work to Building Control, no separate inspection for you to arrange or pay for
- You receive an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) confirming the work meets BS 7671
- Regular assessment checks that our technical competence, insurance and procedures stay in place
- The same body audits our MCS certification, so solar and electrical standards are checked together
What this means for you
The wiring, consumer unit work and grid connection are done safely and legally, and you get the paperwork to prove it, which matters when you sell the house or make an insurance claim.

HIES Consumer Code
Consumer protection for renewable energy customers, approved by Trading Standards
HIES is a consumer protection scheme for the home energy sector, approved under the Chartered Trading Standards Institute's Consumer Codes Approval Scheme. As HIES members we sign up to a code of practice covering how we sell, quote, contract, take deposits and look after you afterwards, and your deposit and our workmanship guarantee are protected through the scheme.
Why this matters
- Your deposit is protected by an insurance-backed guarantee arranged through HIES
- Our workmanship guarantee is insurance-backed through HIES for two years, so it stands even if we couldn't honour it ourselves
- Access to an independent dispute-resolution service if anything ever goes wrong
- Clear, honest information, a proper written contract and a 14-day cooling-off period
- The consumer code membership that MCS requires of every certified installer

The consumer code we work to is approved by Trading Standards
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute runs the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme, which vets the codes of practice that trade bodies hold their members to. The HIES code we sign up to carries that approval, which is why the TradingStandards.uk Approved Code mark sits alongside it.
Why this matters
- The code governing how we quote, contract and handle complaints has been independently vetted
- Approval is reviewed rather than granted once, so the standard has to be maintained
- It sets the rules on clear pricing, written contracts and cancellation rights
- It is the same scheme Trading Standards points consumers to when checking a trader
What this means for you
The protections you get from us are not our own invention. They come from a code of practice that Trading Standards has looked at and approved, and that we can be held to.

The government-endorsed quality mark for work in and around the home
TrustMark is the only government-endorsed quality scheme for work in and around the home. A TrustMark-registered business has been vetted by an approved scheme provider for technical competence, trading practices and customer service, and has to keep meeting those standards to stay registered.
Why this matters
- Independent vetting of the business, not just the installation, trading practices and customer service included
- Government-endorsed, and the registration that government-funded home energy-efficiency schemes require of their installers
- A route to dispute resolution if a registered business falls short
- Checkable in seconds on the public TrustMark register using our licence number
- Ongoing monitoring, registration is withdrawn from businesses that stop meeting the standard
What this means for you
The same badge you'd look for on any tradesperson working on your home, on the company putting solar on your roof. Look us up before you sign anything, we'd rather you did.

The ICO is the UK's independent regulator for data protection. Any organisation that processes personal data must be registered with it and pay a data protection fee. Eco 2u Nw Ltd is registered as ZC171586. This is a legal registration rather than an accreditation, it means we are on the regulator's register and accountable to it for how we handle your data.
Why this matters
- Your survey photos, electricity bills and contact details are personal data, and we handle them under UK GDPR
- Registration is a legal requirement for any business that processes personal data
- You can see exactly who is responsible for your data on the public ICO register
- The regulator can act if we ever fell short, you are not reliant on our word alone
What this means for you
The information you send us to design your system is looked after properly, and used only for that.
How your contract protects you
The schemes above are the outside checks. These are the terms written into every Eco2u contract.
£100 deposit, nothing more until install day
50% is due on the morning our team arrives, and the balance on completion. We never ask for anything outside that schedule unless you request extra work in writing.
Deposit protected through HIES
An insurance-backed guarantee arranged through our HIES membership stands behind your deposit from the moment you pay it.
10-year workmanship warranty
Our installation work is covered for ten years, and the warranty transfers to the new owner if you sell the house.
Insurance-backed for two years
The workmanship guarantee is also insurance-backed through HIES for two years, so it holds even if we couldn't honour it ourselves.
14-day cooling-off period
You can cancel without giving a reason for 14 days after the goods are delivered, and at any point before that.
Free service visit at 24 months
A full inspection two years in is included in every install, as standard.
