How much can I realistically save?
It depends on your bill, how much of your usage lands in daylight, and whether you add storage. The savings calculator on our homepage lets you model it with your own numbers, and at survey we'll replace those estimates with a figure based on your actual consumption data.

Do I need a battery, or just panels?
Panels alone still pay, but without storage the surplus you generate at midday gets exported for a fraction of what you pay to buy it back at teatime. A battery is usually the single biggest upgrade to your savings, which is why every package here includes one.

How do you design my system without a home visit?
We design every system remotely in OpenSolar, professional solar design software. From your address we use high-resolution aerial imagery of your actual roof, build a 3D model, run a year-round shading analysis and forecast your generation, then show your savings and payback in an online proposal you can explore. 99% of the time we can design and quote fully remotely, with no home visit needed.

Will it work on a British roof?
Yes. Modern N-Type panels perform well in diffuse light, which is exactly what our weather delivers. Orientation and shading matter more than raw sunshine hours, and that's what the survey is for.

How much do solar panels and batteries cost in the UK?
Our Essential package, twelve LONGi 530W panels (6.36 kWp) with a 5.12 kWh Hanchu battery, starts from £7,038 fully installed. Bigger systems and larger batteries cost more, and we confirm your exact price after a free remote survey, usually within 48 hours. Solar panels and batteries are currently 0% VAT, until 31 March 2027.

How long is the payback on solar and battery?
It depends on how much electricity you use, how much of it falls in daylight, your tariff and your export rate, so there is no honest one-size answer. The design report from your free survey shows a payback estimate for your home, along with the electricity price and export rate behind it, so you can check the numbers yourself.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?
Yes, in most cases. AC-coupled batteries such as Fox ESS and Hanchu connect to an existing system without touching your panels or inverter, so you keep more of your own solar instead of exporting it cheaply. A battery added to existing panels is 0% VAT until 31 March 2027, and we handle any DNO notification it needs.

Do I need planning permission for solar panels?
Usually not. In England, panels on a house roof are normally permitted development, as long as they stick out no more than 0.2 metres from the roof slope and sit no higher than the highest part of the roof, chimneys aside. Listed buildings need consent, and in conservation areas panels can't go on a wall facing a road. We check this at the design stage.

How does the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) work?
The Smart Export Guarantee pays you for the solar electricity you send to the grid. Larger energy suppliers must offer an SEG tariff, the rate must always be above zero, and each supplier sets its own rate and terms, so it pays to shop around. You need an MCS certified installation, which we provide, and a meter that records your exports, usually a smart meter.

How long does the paperwork take?
We handle the DNO application and the MCS certification. Most jobs are notified and certified within a couple of weeks of commissioning, and you get copies of everything.

How long does an installation take?
Most residential installs are completed in one to two days. Commercial projects vary by scale, you'll get a clear timeline with your quote.

What guarantee do you offer?
A 10-year workmanship warranty, which transfers to the new owner if you sell, on top of the manufacturer warranties on panels, inverters and batteries. Your deposit and the workmanship warranty are also insurance-backed through HIES, and there's a free service visit at 24 months.
