What to expect

What to expect.

Twelve steps from your first call to the day your roof starts paying you back, what we do, what we need from you, and when each of it happens.

1

Step 1 of 12

Getting in touch

Your journey starts with a conversation

Reaching out is simple and there’s no pressure. We’re here to answer your questions and understand what you want from the system, lower bills, independence from the grid, a car to charge, or all three.

2

Step 2 of 12

Information for your quote

Help us design the right system

To quote accurately we’ll ask for a few things. The more you can give us, the more precise your proposal will be.

What we need from you

  • Property type and address, so we can look at your roof on satellite imagery
  • A recent electricity bill, your annual usage in kWh is ideal
  • Photos of your roof, fuse board and meter if you can
  • Your goals: lower bills, backup power, EV charging, a heat pump on the way
  • Any preferences on battery brand or size

Pro tip

Photos over WhatsApp are the easiest way to share your property. We’ll tell you exactly which angles and areas to capture.

3

Step 3 of 12

Receiving your proposal

A full OpenSolar design and pricing

Using the industry-leading OpenSolar platform, our design team builds a fully personalised solar and battery proposal for your property. Every design is checked and approved by a qualified installer before it reaches you, not a salesperson.

Your proposal includes

  • 3D roof design with the exact panel layout
  • Shading analysis and sun-path study
  • Estimated annual generation in kWh
  • Bill savings projected over 25 years
  • Panel options, LONGi Hi-MO X10 or AIKO Neostar 3S+
  • Battery options, Hanchu, Fox ESS or Sigenergy

Financial breakdown

  • Clear itemised pricing, no hidden costs
  • Payback period worked out for your usage
  • 25-year savings forecast
  • Full equipment specifications and warranties
  • Two or three system options to compare

You’ll get an interactive link to explore your design in detail, zoom, rotate, and see exactly how the panels will sit on your roof. We usually send two or three options so you can compare and choose the fit that’s right for you.

4

Step 4 of 12

Check our reviews

See what our customers really think

Don’t just take our word for it. Read honest reviews from homeowners across the North West we’ve installed for, on Google and Facebook.

We’re proud of every one, and we’d love to add yours after your install.

5

Step 5 of 12

Reviewing your options

Three batteries, one honest answer

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all, but we only install premium equipment. Your proposal comes with a choice of tier-one battery systems so you can pick what’s right for your home and your goals, never the cheapest box on the shelf.

No sales pressure

The right kit for your situation

We don’t push one manufacturer. All three are tier-one systems, the right choice depends on your roof, your usage, your budget and what matters most to you.

  • Hanchu ESS

You're adding a battery to existing solar, it's going in a cold garage, or you want the best-value route in, heated, retrofit-native Blade cells with a 12-year warranty.

  • Fox ESS

You want the UK's most widely installed battery, whole-home backup in a power cut, and the option to stack more storage later.

  • Sigenergy SigenStor

You have or are planning an EV and want charging, battery and AI control built into one unit, the most future-proof option we fit.

Whichever you choose, you get the same Eco2u install standard, MCS certification and our 10-year workmanship warranty. For the full comparison, see Which brand?

How payment works

  1. £100

    On acceptance

A deposit reserves your installation date. Protected by an insurance-backed guarantee through HIES.

  2. 50%

    Day of install

Payable on the morning our team arrives on site to begin work.

  3. Balance

    On completion

The remainder is due when the installation is complete.

We never ask for anything outside this schedule unless you ask for extra work, which is quoted and agreed in writing first. You also have a 14-day cooling-off period in which you can cancel without giving a reason.

7

Step 7 of 12

Your WhatsApp group

A direct line to the team

Once your order is confirmed we set up a WhatsApp group just for you, with our Installation Manager and Lead Technician in it. It becomes your direct line to the people responsible for your install, from confirmation to long after the job is done.

Who’s in your group

Lead Technician

Your main contact for technical questions, design queries and equipment advice.

Tech support

App set-up, monitoring configuration and any troubleshooting after the install.

Installation Manager

Books your installation date, arranges scaffolding and the DNO paperwork, and keeps everything on schedule.

Questions people actually ask

  • “What time will the team arrive on installation day?”
  • “Can I add an extra battery to my order?”
  • “How do I connect the monitoring app to my Wi-Fi?”
  • “Is it okay if I'm not home during the install?”
  • “What's the status of my G99 application?”
  • “Can you explain how the export tariff works?”
  • “The scaffolders are here, is that expected today?”
  • “How do I set up off-peak charging on my battery?”
  • “Can I see photos of the completed roof work?”
  • “What paperwork do I need for my energy supplier?”

Before installation

  • Confirm your installation date
  • Send extra photos if we need them
  • Ask about equipment choices
  • Updates on your G99 application
  • Access and parking arrangements
  • Scaffolding date confirmation

During and after

  • Progress photos from the team as they work
  • Ask questions while the install is happening

8

Step 8 of 12

Booking your installation

Securing your date

With your order confirmed we find the installation date that works for you. Scheduling is flexible and fits around your commitments, not ours.

What to expect

  • Lead time is usually a few weeks, depending on equipment availability and scaffolding
  • Most home installations take one to two days
  • Dates are confirmed in your WhatsApp group
  • A reminder the week before and the day before your install
9

Step 9 of 12

Pre-installation preparation

Scaffolding, paperwork and access

Your Installation Manager takes over to make sure everything is in place before the team arrives.

Scaffolding

  • Goes up the day before your install
  • Professional scaffolders, for the team's safety and yours
  • Usually taken down the day after completion

G99 application

  • Needed when the inverter is rated above 3.68 kW on a single-phase supply
  • Submitted to your DNO on your behalf, we handle the technical paperwork
  • We can install while it's being processed; output is capped at 3.68 kW until approval comes through

Your Installation Manager also

  • Confirms access arrangements
  • Sorts parking for the van
  • Checks you have your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi password ready, the inverter's monitoring needs it on the day
  • Answers any last-minute questions
  • Keeps you updated on WhatsApp
10

Step 10 of 12

Installation day

Your system comes to life

This is the exciting part. Our certified installers arrive and turn your home into a clean energy power station.

A typical installation day

  1. 8:00amTeam arrives, safety briefing, equipment unloaded
  2. MorningRoof work, mounting rails and panels go on
  3. LunchShort break; your home stays accessible throughout
  4. AfternoonInverter and battery installed, electrical connections made
  5. Late afternoonCommissioning, testing and your handover

You don’t need to be home for the whole day, but we’d recommend being around for the handover at the end so we can walk you through your new system.

11

Step 11 of 12

Post-installation paperwork

Certificates and sign-off

After the install we handle the paperwork so your system is fully registered and you can be paid for the power you export.

On completion

Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC)

Confirms the installation meets BS 7671 wiring regulations.

Once the system is commissioned

MCS certificate

Essential for Smart Export Guarantee payments from your energy supplier.

After install

G98/G99 DNO confirmation

Grid connection approval from your Distribution Network Operator.

On completion

Product warranties

Panels up to 30 years; batteries 10–12 years depending on the system.

On completion

System handover pack

User guides, monitoring app set-up and what to do in an emergency.

On completion

10-year workmanship warranty

Our installation work is covered for ten years, and the warranty transfers to the new owner if you sell.

In your handover pack

Manufacturer warranty registration

Where a maker needs online registration to activate full terms (Fox ESS, Hanchu), we do it for you and confirm it.

Two years on

Free 24-month service visit

A full inspection of the system two years after install, included in your price.

Not sure how to set up your app or which tariff to pick? The Help & Guides has step-by-step videos for every system we fit.

12

Step 12 of 12
